You are invited to join a dynamic team with the Child and Youth Mental Health Service as a Mental Health Clinician – Senior. In this role you will work collaboratively with Headspace and Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs Service teams to improve access to coordinated, culturally safe mental health care for young people aged 12-25 through strengthened care pathways and integrated service delivery.

Join the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service team of over 6000 staff to deliver health services in Far North Queensland. We offer a range of medical, nursing and midwifery, administrative and support roles at Cairns and more than 30 regional, rural and remote facilities.  The Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs Service (MHAODS) delivers specialist services across the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service and supports Mental Health and Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs services in the neighbouring Hospital and Health Services of Cape York, Torres Strait and the Northern Peninsula Area.  
 
About your role: 
  • Maximise clinician availability and build essential relationships by being physically co-located with headspace, as much as is practical.
  • Provide an important bridge to the broader state health system to improve access and decrease transitional service gaps.
  • Establish or embed a dedicated capacity for MHAOD clinicians to work across the historical service boundary between child and youth mental health services and adult mental health services.
