In this role you will manage a team of specialists to deliver strategic, tactical and operational advice and support, ensuring effective industrial and employee relations across the department.
The primary accountabilities of the Manager, Employee & Industrial Relations include:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the employee relations team including the delivery of the Agency's industrial/employee relations operational support services.
- Provide coaching to members of the employee relations team, business partners, operational managers and supervisors that builds capability and ensures best practice, contemporary industrial/employee relations outcomes.
- Engage in people manage consistent with positive performance obligations and exemplify workplace relationships that align with QCS values and ‘One People Capability Command'.
- Provide expert strategic, tactical and operational advice on a wide range of employment and industrial matters.
- Support the Director Employee Relations in the development of industrial and employee relations strategy, policy and programs.
- In conjunction with the Director Employee Relations, manage QCS's union-employer consultative arrangements and negotiations with employee organisations about various strategic and operational issues, including the negotiation of enterprise bargaining agreements.
- Support the employee relations team to mediate and liaise with employee organisations on day-to-day issues and dispute matters that affect the department and its employees.
- As required, represent the department and perform advocacy before the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission in relation to applications, disputes notices and public service appeal matters.
The role description provides the minimum requirements for the role. The incumbent may be required to undertake other duties as required outside of these primary accountabilities.
