Key competencies (role specific criteria)

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

• This is a modern laboratory with a positive culture and a high performing team, so qualities of resilience, well-developed communication skills and ability to contribute positively to a team environment are essential. (Central Specimen Reception Team > 25 staff).
• Experience in or the ability to rapidly learn pathology pre-analytical processes, e.g. sorting, coding, data entry, aliquoting, parcel management, storage, retrieval of specimens etc, in a large and complex specimen reception unit.
• Proven ability to solve problems and show initiative in the workplace.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to focus in a busy, complex environment.
• Highly developed customer focus with experience dealing with a variety of people and a high-level of awareness of impact of the individual on the overall customer experience.
• Understanding of laboratory quality systems and the requirements of NATA accreditation and ISO certification.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively use computerised systems, keyboarding skills particularly for data entry.
• Proven ability to manage time effectively in a highly process driven environment with competing priorities.
• Awareness of the human resource management policies applicable to contemporary workplaces.
