About the Team

Medical Imaging and Nuclear Medicine (MINM) is part of the Division of Critical Care and provides 24 hour service to children in emergency, inpatients and operating theatres. We provide a children's outpatient service during normal business hours, Monday to Friday. Nursing support is provided Monday to Friday 7:00am to 7:30pm, and Saturdays 7:30am-5:30pm

MINM provides a range of services to help diagnose, monitor and treat children suffering from disease or injury. These include:

  • X-ray radiography
  • Ultrasound (US)
  • Digital fluoroscopy (DF)
  • Interventional Radiography (IR)
  • Computed tomography (CT)
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
  • Nuclear Medicine (NM) and Bone Mineral Densitometry (BMD) and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scans.
  • Outpatient and inpatient pre and post anaesthetic care.

 

About the Role

The Registered Nurse (RN) in Medical Imaging and Nuclear Medicine delivers safe compassionate clinical care; working collaboratively with the Healthcare team to achieve best practice patient outcomes. The RN engages in reflective, analytical practice through effective assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of direct person-centred care. The RN continually improves their skills and knowledge developing from graduate to highly skilled Registered Nurse. Skills in Interventional Radiology and/or Neurointerventional Radiology will be highly regarded.

Autonomy

  • Practice independently and interdependently.
  • Assume accountability and responsibility for their own actions and delegation of care to Enrolled nurses, Assistants in Nursing and healthcare workers.
  • Demonstrates evidence of increasing autonomy and exercises greater levels of professional judgement in the clinical environment as the employee moves from a beginning to experienced practitioner.
