Deputy Principal (Primary) - Kalkie State School


North Coast Region - School and Regional Operations and Performance Division

Kalkie State School is situated on the eastern side of Bundaberg. We have approximately 330 children, and your role will be to support across the school from Prep to Year 6. Our AIP priorities sit around Reading, Inclusion and the establishment of school wide PBL. The Deputy Principal will play a significant role in working closely with the leadership team and supporting school wide staff in capacity building and implementation of all three areas of the AIP. This is a temporary full-time position until 11 December 2026, unless otherwise determined.

About Us:

Kalkie State School is a welcoming government primary school located in Bundaberg East, Queensland. We offer education from Prep to Year 6, and currently have around 325 students enrolled across all year levels, supported by a dedicated team of over 50 teachers and support staff.

Our school serves coastal and rural communities in the Bundaberg area, and we are proud to have students from a range of social and cultural backgrounds. Kalkie State School is committed to recognising and nurturing the potential in every child. We provide a broad curriculum that includes academic learning, sporting opportunities, creative arts, music and personal development, all designed to help students grow with confidence and purpose.

About the Role:

Responsibilities include, but not limited to;

  • Support the Principal in leading a shared, future-focused educational vision that delivers high-quality learning outcomes for all students, and deputise when required.
  • Model ethical, values-based leadership by embedding socially just practices and fostering an inclusive, positive school culture.
  • Set and maintain high expectations for student achievement, staff performance, and continuous professional learning.
  • Build and strengthen collaborative partnerships with parents, government agencies, community organisations, industry, and business to enhance student outcomes.
  • Effectively manage resources and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policies to achieve strategic school goals.
