Sport and Racing delivers quality services by providing responsive and integrated support services for sport, recreation and racing opportunities for all Queenslanders.
The team drives grassroots sport participation across the State through programs and services while also delivering the capital planning, build and maintenance program for the Department of Sport, Racing and Olympic and Paralympic Games (the Department). Ultimately the Department plays a key role in enabling Queensland's Sport Strategy and delivering the Government's commitments and priorities.
Sport and Racing supports and encourages participation and success in sport, active recreation and racing.
In this role you will:
• Provide strategic advice to the Service Area Manager, Executive and Senior Managers within the Department on complex issues, to contribute to the development of policy and programs related to sport and recreation issues and projects.
• Engage and maintain local networks and identify partnership opportunities with key stakeholders (including but not limited to Local Councils, regional sport and recreation organisations, non-Government organisations and other government departments) and work in partnership with these stakeholders on key regional initiatives in the delivery of Government priorities and to identify business opportunities.
• Participate and where required lead Service Area project teams, and undertake project and contract management responsibilities in the implementation of Sport and Recreation Delivery and Engagement business.
• Mentor and support Service Delivery staff on a range of general and specific regional issues including infrastructure programs, planning, solution brokering, facility management and stakeholder organisational governance.
• Undertake local research, analysis and evaluation of regional issues, needs and priorities with a particular emphasis on communities and organisations.
• Monitor progress against key organisation performance indicators and assess and report on organisational capability in achieving Government priorities and outcomes.
• Coordinate and implement Sport and Recreation funding programs, and special initiatives targeting communities in the Service Area, manage stakeholders and monitor progress of approved applicants, funded projects (grant and non-grant) to ensure outcomes are delivered.
• Prepare complex reports, submissions, briefing notes and Ministerial correspondence related to sport and recreation development in the region including relevant data, analysis and local intelligence.
• Contribute to data maintenance in Sport and Recreation's database/s and record keeping systems.
• Apply high level project management skills to lead complex projects in a high pressure environment.
• Contribute to an innovative team that values continuous improvement and a collaborative culture focused on achievement of objectives within approved timeframes and budgets.
• Work in a flexible environment and across boundaries.
• Support and help maintain a workplace safety culture by ensuring that all policies and practices concerning Workplace Health and Safety are applied and a part of day to day operations.
