Remote Registered Nurse – Practice Pathway

📍 Multiple positions available | Torres Strait & Cape York | Program Commencing September/October 2026 for 12 months

Tell me more......Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service (TCHHS) is seeking passionate Registered Nurses to join our Remote Registered Nurse - Practice Pathway - a supported 12-month development program designed to prepare you for a rewarding career in remote Primary Health Care and to work as a Clinical Nurse in the Primary Healthcare environment. 

This is more than a job. It's an opportunity to build confidence, expand your scope of practice, immerse yourself in vibrant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and develop the skills to become a future Clinical Nurse within one of our remote Primary Health Care facilities.

During your rotation you will be working alongside experienced remote area nurses who will guide and support your practice. You will also have regular contact with the TCHHS Nursing Education team educators. You will be expected to complete the Remote Registered Nurse – Practice Pathway professional portfolio during your rotation as part of your formal learning.

Your learning journey includes

• Comprehensive orientation, including our Cultural Practice Program.
• Regular education days and professional development sessions.
• Community of Practice meetings with fellow participants.
• Clinical coaching, mentorship and ongoing support.
• Performance appraisals and structured feedback.
• Completion of Clinical Assessment Workbooks and an Activity Portfolio.
