We are seeking an experienced, innovative, and collaborative Head of Department (Curriculum) to join our school community. In the key leadership role, you will drive high-quality teaching and learning by leading curriculum planning, implementation, and evaluation, supporting staff capability, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic and future-focused educational leader who is committed to delivering outstanding learning outcomes for every student. This is a temporary full-time position until 18 September 2026, unless otherwise determined.

About Us:

Mount Morgan Central State School (approximate student population: 230) and Mount Morgan State High (student population: 190), both heritage listed, are the only schools located in Mount Morgan, a town boasting immense historical significance. In 2012, the primary school celebrated 125 years of public education; the high school its centenary.

Mount Morgan Central State School is committed to the vision of establishing one educational precinct for this community; one that provides a high quality, individualised education for every young person from birth to work or tertiary learning. We recognise that aligned behaviour and attendance processes, and a strong pedagogical connection, enhances the transition of students from primary to high school. To complement this, both schools are committed to enhancing the relationship and partnership with other local agencies including the Mount Morgan child and family support hub and the Aboriginal and Torres strait islander community.

About the Role:

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Lead the relevant curriculum area or whole-school program by developing and implementing a shared educational vision that delivers high-quality learning outcomes for all students.
• Foster an inclusive, socially just learning environment while setting and maintaining high expectations for student achievement and staff performance.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement through ongoing professional learning, strategic planning, and future-focused leadership.
• Build and sustain effective partnerships with students, parents, government agencies, and the wider community to enhance educational outcomes.
• Manage curriculum, human, financial, and physical resources effectively, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and departmental policies to achieve school priorities.
