Sunshine Coast Health is a values-based organisation. We are committed to the maintenance of a culture in which we treat our colleagues with respect as we do our patients, consumers and the community. We respect, protect and promote human rights in our decision-making and actions.
A rural service that requires flexible, innovative and responsive service delivery. This team provides rapid community-based responses to acute mental health presentations while also offering ongoing case management, recovery‑oriented support and coordination of long‑term treatment needs. Working within a rural context, the NPC will contribute to flexible, person‑centred care that addresses the unique challenges of distance, access and continuity for consumers, carers and partner services across the Gympie region.
A Nurse Practitioner Candidate (NPC) is a Registered Nurse who is undertaking an accredited university Nurse Practitioner Master level program leading to endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board Australia and who is employed as a Nurse Grade 7 in a specific Nurse Practitioner Candidate position.
Key Responsibilities include:
- This position requires you to adhere to National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards and the Sunshine Coast Health Safe Care Framework, which has been developed in collaboration with staff, consumers and key stakeholders to enable our vision of health and wellbeing through person-centred care.
- It is the purpose of this role to provide advanced clinical practice in a nursing model of care and be trained in expanded skills under clinical supervision to become an autonomous clinician using diagnostics, prescription, treatment and referral.
- Through completion of relevant education preparation and experiential learning, the NPC will develop an expanded scope of practice that will result in endorsement as a NP. The NPC will function in accordance with relevant legislation and national standards and will work collaboratively with the interprofessional team to ensure the provision of comprehensive, individualised quality patient care to patients.
- The NPC is supported by documentation of clinical learning and competency and academic achievement. The NPC position is grounded in the nursing professions values, knowledge, theories and practice and provides innovative and flexible healthcare delivery that compliments the entire health care system.
