About Us:
The Hall State School is located on the south side of Rockhampton serving the suburbs of Wandal, The Range, Inner City Rockhampton, as well as students from Alton Downs and North Rockhampton. The North Street Annex forms part of the school and is used as an education conference centre. The Hall State School is well served by Child Care centres for “before and after school care”.
Our students come from a variety of backgrounds, mainly urban. They unite as a student body to develop a school culture of tolerance, respect and care for each other. We have a Special Education Program (SEP), managed by a Head of Special Education whom oversees the support of approximately 40 Students with a Disability. As an inclusive school, these students are mainstreamed into classes with support from SEP staff. Approximately 14% of students have an indigenous background and there are a few students with English as a Second Language.
About the Role:
A key focus of the role will be leading and supporting the Diverse Learning Team, ensuring staff have direct line of sight to student support through clear roles, priorities and expectations and that available resources are strategically deployed to maximise impact for students. The HoSES will work closely with classroom teachers, school leaders, families and external specialists to strengthen collaborative case management and ensure students requiring substantial or extensive adjustments receive coordinated and responsive support.
The successful applicant will ideally demonstrate strength in:
- Leading and developing staff within an inclusive education and diverse learning context;
- Coordinating effective systems for Personalised Learning Records, reasonable adjustments, NCCD and disability-related documentation;
- Using student data and evidence to prioritise support, intervention and resource allocation;
- Strengthening teacher capability to meet diverse learning needs within the classroom;
- Leading collaborative case management for students with complex learning, disability, engagement or support needs; and
- Bringing a proactive, solutions-focused approach, with the confidence to establish clear expectations, follow through on agreed actions and contribute strategically as part of the school leadership team.
The Hall State School is continuing to strengthen its school-wide approach to inclusive education and multi-tiered systems of support. This position would suit a leader who enjoys building coherent systems, developing the capability of others and working collaboratively while being prepared to take responsibility for driving the work forward.
Applicants are encouraged to contact the Principal to discuss the role and the current priorities of the school.
