About the role

The Pharmacist Advanced – Surgical and Perioperative Services (Inpatient) provides clinical leadership within the Pharmacy multidisciplinary team through the application of advanced clinical knowledge, skills and experience in the delivery of pharmacy services to patients within the Surgical and Perioperative Service Line at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital. The role is responsible for ensuring the provision of safe, effective and evidence-based medication management services that optimise patient outcomes and support high-quality healthcare delivery.

The successful candidate will lead the operational delivery of clinical pharmacy services for surgical patients, provide expert advice to multidisciplinary teams, and support medication safety and continuity of care initiatives. The role also contributes to workforce development, research, quality improvement activities and strategic service initiatives while providing leadership and guidance to pharmacists, pharmacy staff and students.

  • Provide advanced clinical pharmacy services and expert medication management support for patients within surgical and perioperative care settings.
  • Lead and manage the operational delivery of surgical pharmacy services, ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality patient care.
  • Provide expert advice, consultation and education to pharmacists, medical staff, nursing staff and other stakeholders on medication management and pharmacy-related matters.
  • Support the supervision, training and professional development of pharmacy staff, students and interns while fostering a culture of clinical excellence.
  • Contribute to medication safety, quality improvement, research and service development initiatives that enhance patient outcomes and pharmacy practice.
