Senior Genetic Counsellor Stewardship
RBWH, Herston
We are seeking a skilled Genetic Counsellor to join Pathology Queensland’s Genetic Testing Stewardship Service. Working collaboratively with laboratory scientists, pathologists, clinicians and other stakeholders you will support mainstreaming by providing guidance and education on test ordering processes and pre-test requirements to support high-quality, clinically appropriate and cost-effective genetic testing. This role contributes to service improvement, patient safety and better clinical outcomes while offering an exciting opportunity to broaden your scope of practice by applying professional genetic counselling expertise within the fields of genomic pathology and laboratory medicine. Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated high-level knowledge of up to date standards for genetic testing of patients including laboratory standards (e.g NPAAC requirements)
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to maintain internal and external relationships
- Experience leading, managing and working well within a team structure
- Experience working with clinical pathology services would be an advantage
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- Appointment to this position requires at least a tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in Genetic Counselling (i.e. Graduate Diploma/Masters Genetic Counselling OR HGSA Part 1 certification)
