Miami State School is seeking an exceptional Deputy Principal to join our Executive Leadership Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic instructional leader to drive excellence in teaching, learning and student engagement, with responsibility for leading the school's Student Engagement portfolio.

This role is offered on a temporary full-time basis until 09 April 2027, unless otherwise determined.

Your Opportunity:

Working collaboratively with staff, students, families and the wider community, the successful applicant will provide strategic leadership to strengthen student engagement, attendance, behaviour and wellbeing while building teacher capability through evidence-informed instructional leadership. Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide strategic leadership to develop and implement the school's vision, driving excellence in teaching, learning, student engagement and whole-school improvement.
  • Lead the Student Engagement portfolio, embedding evidence-informed practices that strengthen attendance, behaviour, wellbeing and student achievement.
  • Build teacher capability through high-quality instructional leadership, coaching and feedback to enhance classroom practice and student outcomes.
  • Use student achievement, engagement and wellbeing data to inform strategic decision-making, targeted intervention and continuous improvement.
  • Lead and support whole-school improvement priorities, ensuring consistent implementation of evidence-based practices and sustainable change.
  • Foster an inclusive, high-expectation culture that promotes equity, belonging, wellbeing and success for every student.
  • Build strong partnerships with families, external agencies and the wider community to improve engagement and educational outcomes.
  • Demonstrate exceptional leadership through strategic planning, effective communication, collaboration, organisational expertise and a commitment to continuous professional learning.
  • Support the Principal in leading a positive, high-performing school culture that empowers staff, strengthens collective efficacy and delivers outstanding outcomes for students.
