The Willows State School is seeking an experienced and student-centred Head of Department (Student Services) to join our leadership team. This key role is responsible for driving initiatives that enhance student wellbeing, engagement, attendance, behaviour, and academic success through inclusive and evidence-informed practices. This is a temporary full-time position until 11 December 2026, unless otherwise determined.

About the Role:

Responsibilities include, but not limited to;

  • Lead strategic initiatives to improve student achievement, attendance, engagement, and wellbeing, with a strong focus on equity and success for all learners.
  • Drive data-informed practice by monitoring student performance, coordinating intervention strategies, preparing reports, and supporting evidence-based decision-making.
  • Build staff capability by providing leadership, resources, and guidance to school leaders and teachers to strengthen student outcomes and attendance practices.
  • Develop strong partnerships with students, families, community organisations, higher education providers, businesses, and external agencies to support student engagement, successful transitions, and holistic wellbeing.
  • Provide effective operational leadership by managing departmental resources, ensuring compliance with legislation and departmental policies, and embedding inclusive, socially just practices across the school.
