In your new role you will reports operationally to the Lotus Glen Health Service Director of Nursing, and work in collaboration with the Director of Nursing, Nurse Unit Manager and Senior Medical Officer to support LGHS.

About us:

Lotus Glen Health Service (LGHS) is a rapidly growing division within the CHHHS region, delivering primary health care services to detained, remanded and sentenced prisoners located at the Lotus Glen Correctional Centre (LGCC) and Lotus Glen Open Custody Farm. The Secure Centre has a capacity to house approximately 1268 prisoners and the Open Custody Farm accommodate 148 prisoners. The main catchment area of the centre is North Queensland, with a disproportionately large representation from first nations communities. Nursing cover is provided 24/7 with nursing staff responsible for patient assessment, minor treatment and patient transfers.

About your opportunity:

In this position you will…

  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in working with First Nations people in a compassionate, respectful and culturally safe manner, with understanding of the broader context which contributes to overrepresentation of First Nations peoples in Lotus Glen Health Service.
  • Be accountable for the application of contemporary human resource management principles in collaboration with the Director of Nursing & Nurse Unit Manager to ensure that the facility working environment meets legislative standards and Queensland Health policy.
  • Provide effective communication, consultation and negotiation throughout the service to ensure the involvement of stakeholders.
