Are you an experienced administration coordinator looking to make a real difference? Join Work Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) within the Office of Industrial Relations (OIR) and play a key role supporting safer workplaces across North Queensland. Based in Mackay, Townsville or Cairns, you will lead regional administration and finance functions, coordinate human resources, asset and fleet management activities, and support budget, reporting and operational performance processes.

In this role you will drive service improvements, manage competing priorities, build effective stakeholder relationships and ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures. Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills are essential.

About the role
As the Regional Coordinator you will work autonomously and lead the administration team in the Work Health and Safety Compliance and Field Services (WHS CFS) North Region Inspectorate. You will lead and manage the administration and financial support functions performed by regional staff and contribute to the development and implementation of customer service strategies that complement the state-wide regulatory, advisory and professional services of the division, including liaison with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure the effective management and accurate reporting of office administration, financial and output performance.

Key responsibilities
• Identify and evaluate alternative information systems and management practices, develop and recommend options for improvement, and manage appropriate implementation strategies.
• Provide leadership and effective management of the maintenance and operation of regional human resources, asset and fleet management systems for the region and liaise with Corporate Services to ensure all procedural requirements are met.
• Assist the Regional Director in the preparation of regional budget submissions and the coordination of the region's budget and performance reporting processes in accordance with departmental requirements.
• Monitor and review performance of financial reports, report on anomalies and initiate corrective action where necessary.
• Manage the allocation of administrative staff across the multiple offices in response to varying workloads and apply contemporary human resource practices to management performance and to ensure the skills development of staff meets operational requirements.
• Develop, implement and review regional standards and procedures to ensure compliance with department's quality systems, including correspondence protocols.
• Actively participate as an effective team member in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, OHS and ethical behaviour.

About the team
The North Region WHS Inspectorate is dedicated to improving the health and safety of Queensland workers through education, compliance monitoring and regulatory action that prevents, deters and responds to non-compliance. The team delivers frontline inspectorate services across North Queensland, supporting safer workplaces and healthier communities.

As part of this service, our team respond to workplace incidents and safety concerns, monitor and enforce compliance with work health and safety legislation, deliver targeted compliance campaigns, and provide advice and guidance to industry.

As the Regional Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of these critical services by leading regional administrative operations, coordinating business support functions, and ensuring the region has the systems, resources and processes needed to deliver effective regulatory outcomes. Your work will directly contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of a team committed to protecting Queensland workers and workplaces.
