As the Head of Department (Curriculum), you will lead whole-school curriculum implementation, strengthen teacher capability and drive evidence-informed teaching practices across Prep to Year 10. Working collaboratively within the leadership team, you will lead curriculum planning, moderation, professional learning, data analysis and instructional coaching to improve student outcomes.

About Us:

Charleville School of Distance Education, a Queensland State School offering quality educational services to home based learners from Prep to Year 10 in rural and remote Queensland and beyond.
Our students complete their education through daily use of online resources supplied within the Learning Place, telephone and video conferencing 'on-air' lessons, email and through materials sent via Australia Post. This is enhanced through attendance at Field Events, held each term, when students come together at various locations to meet their classmates and teachers face-to-face.

About the Role:

This role provides an exciting opportunity to influence whole-school improvement through the implementation of the Australian Curriculum Version 9, explicit reading instruction and evidence-based pedagogical practices. Our current improvement agenda focuses on embedding explicit vocabulary instruction across all learning areas and strengthening student engagement through high-quality practising within online learning environments.

• Provide strategic leadership by developing and implementing a shared vision for the curriculum area or whole-school program that promotes excellence, innovation, and high-quality learning outcomes for all students.
• Foster a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement by embedding inclusive and socially just practices, setting high standards for student and staff performance, and promoting ongoing professional learning.
• Build collaborative partnerships by working effectively with students, parents, staff, government agencies, and community organisations to enhance educational opportunities and student success.
• Ensure effective governance and future-focused planning by applying relevant legislation, policies, and strategic planning processes to support sustainable school improvement.
• Lead the effective management of resources by overseeing human, financial, curriculum, and physical resources to achieve departmental or whole-school priorities and maximise student outcomes.
