This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled data and reporting leader to shape how evidence is captured, interpreted and presented to support government decision-making across Sport and Racing.
As Principal Data Analyst, you will lead the delivery of high-quality performance reporting, insights and analysis that inform policy, program effectiveness and investment decisions for Queenslanders. You will bring a proven ability to transform complex data into clear, concise and influential reporting products that meet the needs of senior executives and government.

You will excel in environments where accuracy, clarity and analytical discipline matter, and you will work across teams to strengthen reporting frameworks, performance measures and data quality. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-focused, outcome-driven and committed to building a strong reporting culture that enables transparent, evidence-based decision-making across government programs.
In this role you will:
- Lead reporting deliverables which includes extracting data from multiple sources, importing and merging data, creating dashboards and reporting templates and producing reports.
- Lead the development, implementation and review of procedures and development standards in relation to data transformation, report design and development.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs, data sources and reporting requirements.
- Develop and maintain systems and reports, dashboards, and data visualisations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop reporting solutions using programming languages.
- Use advanced analytical techniques to uncover trends, anomalies, and key drivers of operational performance.
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity in all reporting processes.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in data analysis and visualisation.
- Streamline manual data processes through automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Partner with business leaders to define KPIs and design data visualisations that bring insights to life.
- Work across DSROPG, including with the digital team to ensure joined up solutions to broader data challenges.
- Contribute to a workplace culture based on values and behaviours, ensuring a positive work environment that is safe, healthy, diverse, respectful and inclusive.
