About us:
Building and Engineering Maintenance Services (BEMS) supports healthcare facilities across Rockhampton, Banana, Central Highlands and Gladstone from its Rockhampton hub. Bringing together professional, administrative, operational and skilled trades teams, BEMS delivers a broad range of maintenance services, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, horticulture and fitting and turning.
Our team ensures healthcare assets remain safe, compliant and reliable through preventative maintenance programs, statutory inspections and a 24-hour corrective maintenance and breakdown service across the Rockhampton region.

About the role:
- Prepare and assess surfaces by reviewing plans, repairing imperfections, and completing all pre-painting work.
- Apply high-quality paint, varnishes and finishes to internal and external buildings and structures using a range of techniques and tools.
- Carry out onsite preparations, including protecting work areas and erecting scaffolding where required.
- Estimate project requirements, mix paints to achieve the required finish, and contribute to cost-effective project delivery.
- Maintain a safe work environment by following workplace health and safety requirements while completing maintenance tasks and supporting the broader BEMS team.
About you:
- Hold a recognised trade or professional qualification with the required registration in the relevant occupation.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing building trades teams, with strong organisational and time management skills.
- High-level communication, interpersonal and administrative skills, with the ability to prepare professional documentation and reports.
- Knowledge of specialised hospital facilities and the ability to maintain high standards of safety, compliance and best practice.
- Experience with, or the ability to quickly learn, Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (including S4HANA) to manage maintenance data, reporting and compliance effectively.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $103,065 p.a. is comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $36.92 - $45.55 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
