Calling First Nations Allied Health New Graduates

 The West Moreton Health Allied Health Graduate Program in Mental Health is recognised by a number of university partners, with past alumni having gained recognition for prior learning and credit towards a Masters in Mental Health. Our graduates are highly sought after and are seen as the future leaders in their disciplines of mental health practice.

• Have you recently graduated, or about to graduate as an Exercise Physiologist, Occupational Therapist, Psychologist (provisional or general), Social Worker or Speech Pathologist? We have multiple new graduate positions available in our program including dedicated funding for a First Nations Identified Allied Health Graduate position.
• Are you interested in working in mental health or alcohol and other drug services, but unsure what area you would like to work in? We have rotation opportunities in a variety of clinical areas and specialised mental health teams and settings that include acute, alcohol and other drugs, child and youth, community, forensics, inpatient and prisons.
• Are you looking for support as you transition from student to clinician? Your level of independence in clinical practice will grow as your experience builds with ongoing support from your supervisor and team.
• Are you wondering what supervision and support might look like? We have clear supervision structures with weekly supervision provided, focusing on your discipline and mental health skill development, in addition to the ongoing mentoring and support provided within your team. We also offer professional and cultural mentoring and yarning for our First Nations Identified graduates.
• Are you wanting discipline specific and mental health professional development opportunities as you start your mental health career? We have a structured two-year training and education program to help you develop your professional identity and role while working in mental health services.
• Do you want to be part of closing the gap in health outcomes for First Nations people? Our program is committed to continually improving the cultural safety of our service for consumers and staff. We connect our First Nations Identified graduates with yarning and mentoring from First Nations clinicians in our service, in addition to working with our First Nations Health Workforce and Leadership. West Moreton Health also has a comprehensive First Nations Health Equity Strategy and Implementation Plan.
• Are you wanting to connect with other new graduates and build your professional network? We offer interdisciplinary training, education and new graduate peer-support opportunities, connecting you with other graduates from Exercise Physiology, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Psychology (provisional or general), Social Work and Speech Pathology.
