Resources Safety and Health Queensland (RSHQ) is seeking a motivated, experienced and suitably qualified person to work as an Incident Management Officer (Explosives) within RSHQ's Central Assessment and Performance Unit's (CAPU) Incident Response Team.

The CAPU Incident Response Team works alongside of RSHQ's individual regulatory inspectorates and offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact to the safety and health outcomes for resources workers in Queensland, through improved incident data management and regulatory response.

CAPU Incident Response is a centralised team within RSHQ, responsible for uplifting incident reporting maturity, efficiency and effectiveness across Coal, Mineral Mines and Quarries, Explosives, as well as Petroleum & Gas industries.

As a part of this team, the Incident Management Officer (Explosives) will be responsible for:

• Undertaking incident notification review and triage;
• Taking ownership of end-to-end incident management processes;
• Providing timely and considered advice to industry, as well as RSHQ Inspectorates, to enable informed, data-driven and risk-based decisions;
• Strengthening incident reporting data intelligence across all explosives activities in Queensland, informing RSHQ's regulatory functions.

In this role, you will be part of the team who are the initial point of contact for incidents across all of RSHQ's regulated entities, during business hours. Being on the front line of incident response, you will be required to draw on your experience from:

• Understanding and administering legislation (across multiple jurisdictions) for explosives incident reporting/ incident investigation requirements, along with securing or releasing incident scenes.
• Legislative safety, health and security management system requirements.
• Working in the explosives industry to understand the context, severity, hazards and associated risks of reported incidents across both coal and mineral mines and quarries industries, as well as other explosives activities and industries throughout the lifecycle of explosives.

The Incident Management Officer (Explosives) - CAPU Incident Response is required to liaise with all levels of RSHQ's regulatory divisions as a part of incident triage and management, along with the other agency divisions for system quality assurance.

Essential / desirable requirements

• Ability to obtain an Explosives Security Clearance required for this position.
• Applicants must have a minimum 5 years' experience working in the explosives industry, preferably in a mining setting.
• Highly developed communication, negotiation, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem resolution skills.
• Strong time management skills.
• You may be required to travel from time to time for a duration of several consecutive days.
