The purpose of this role is to perform allocated clinical activities for which you have been trained and assessed as competent under the direction and supervision of an Environmental Health Officer. You will develop and build Environmental Health competency through participation in workplace training, education, and feedback processes while engaged in formal Environmental Health tertiary studies.

 About the role

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Ability to rapidly acquire a sound knowledge of the interpretation and enforcement of environmental health legislation and relevant state, national and international standards used in connection with environmental health practice in Queensland.
  • Understanding of own scope of practice.
  • Ability to acquire the skills to provide a defined range of assessments and treatments under supervision and direction of an Environmental Health Officer and undertake operational and administrative duties relevant to the position.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with consumers and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to use initiative and assume responsibility for the assigned workload, including the use of effective and efficient planning and organisational skills.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
  • The successful applicant must be working towards an Environmental Health degree qualification that is recognised by Environmental Health Australia for practice as an Environmental Health Officer.
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of enrolment in a tertiary degree qualification in an Environmental Health degree at a recognised tertiary institution.
