As our Senior Forest Ranger, you will work outdoors in state forests assessing and marking trees, inspecting harvesting operations, supporting operational plans and monitoring environmental and safety standards. You will also build positive relationships with timber operators, contractors and landholders.

Six permanent full-time positions are available across Rockhampton, Roma, Monto and Mundubbera.

As our Senior Forest Ranger, you will:

  • Work outdoors in state forests and other land tenures assessing and marking trees, inspecting harvesting operations and monitoring environmental and safety standards.
  • Assist with planning and coordinating timber harvesting activities, including preparing operational plans and sale documentation.
  • Build positive relationships with timber operators, contractors, landholders and other stakeholders, providing advice and support on forestry operations.
  • Monitor forestry activities to ensure they are carried out safely, sustainably, and in line with required policies, procedures and operational standards.
  • Contribute to the sustainable management of forest resources by identifying risks, supporting audits and assisting with continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with administering the provisions of the Forestry Act 1959 and other relevant Acts and Regulations as they impact on DPI Forestry' activities.
  • Use mapping and spatial information systems to support operational planning and decision-making.
  • Safely operate four-wheel drives and other off-road vehicles in remote forest environments and undertake field work in varied terrain.

You may also have:

  • The ability to work outdoors in a physically active role, including walking over uneven terrain and carrying field equipment.
  • Good practical problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with, or the ability to learn, mapping and navigation tools such as ArcGlS, Google Earth, GPS and communication equipment.

There are six permanent full-time positions available across Rockhampton, Roma, Monto and Mundubbera.

A current Queensland C class manual driver's licence or equivalent is mandatory.
