The Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI)'s Information and Digital Science Delivery (IDSD) team are seeking an experienced Team Leader to deliver advanced digital solutions and supporting scientific operations.

As Team Leader you will:

  • Provide leadership and direction consistent with the corporate vision for scientific system operations in IDSD and for Information Policy within DETSI.
  • Coordinate, control and implement the management, support and maintenance of information technology and information technology support for scientific systems operations at the IDSD HPC team.
  • Lead and manage a team of officers providing strategic support for HPC systems including: facilities management; data storage and computational systems management; system security and user access controls; business system continuity and disaster recovery plans; system administration and management documentation; and the document library containing systems specification, design and operations manuals.
  • Negotiate and liaise with project managers, system managers and business managers in the design and management of HPC systems to meet their project needs
  • Manage the design, preparation of business cases, purchase, installation and operational aspects of HPC systems and system changes and release processes in line with appropriate configuration management and change control practices.
  • Ensure milestones, targets and deliverables are managed and complied with.
  • Determine effective responses to the changing demands on resources by IDSD HPC groups and monitor, report and review the team and managed systems to maintain acceptable levels of performance and compliance.
  • Represent the Manager, IDSD and as required the Sciences Directorate, and system stakeholders in meetings with clients and service providers in matters directly related to the operations of the information systems.
  • Co-ordinate, implement and review educational programs relating to necessary scientific information technology, facilities maintenance and business applications.

This includes:

  • Provide advice, reports and recommendations to the senior management on information technology system operations, client services, statutory obligations and business objectives.
