The Townsville Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD) Mental Health Service has been developed to better meet the needs of consumers with neurodivergent disorders, developmental disorders and congenital intellectual disability who access Townsville Mental Health services.

The service also provides outreach functions to North West Hospital and Health Service. This is a multi-disciplinary team with a combination of Allied Health, Nursing and Mental Health medical staff who will provide specialised clinical support to the Townsville and North West HHSs using a consultation-liaison model to offer assessment and management advice to the Mental Health Alcohol Other Drugs (MHAOD) and Health services supporting clients with co-occurring IDD and complex needs.

Competitive salary and benefits:

We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements.

  • Salary range: $4912.70 to $5286.40 p.f. (full-time) OR $64.64 to $69.55 p.h. (part-time) (HP4)
  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
  • Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available

Requirements:

  • For Occupational Therapy the successful applicant must possess a degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited tertiary institution. Registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia is required.
  • Appointment as an Authorised Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) under the Mental Health Act 2016 would be highly desirable. If not AMHP – then willingness to undertake and complete the requirements for appointment.
  • This position requires the incumbent to operate a class “C” motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this type of vehicle is required.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
