This role is a specialist clinician who supports the production, maintenance and improvement of quality systems for FSQ, ensuring compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation requirements, as well as other accreditation, certification and regulatory and legislative requirements for the Team.

This role actively participates in the delivery and coordination of quality and compliance processes and procedures, the monitoring and reporting of risks, issues, quality losses and non-conformance.

Your Key Responsibilities:

• Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
• Under the leadership of the Executive Manager, Quality produce, maintain and improve quality systems for the Forensic Chemistry Division.
• Specifically ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025.
• Complete requests from regulatory bodies, executives or stakeholders to produce dossiers, reports and data
• Provide expert professional advice and assistance to internal and external stakeholders on quality, compliance and relevant reporting systems, as appropriate, making recommendations for and implementing policy change to enhance quality, customer service and outcomes.
• Develop guidelines, procedures or instructions for staff undertaking quality and compliance activities in the Forensic Chemistry Division
• Assist in the evaluation of Forensic Chemistry operational processes by analysing information provided by quality systems processes, especially internal audit and identified opportunities for quality improvement
• Proactively monitor and report on significant quality assurance issues and advancements in the external environment which may affect the business of the organisation
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of external relationships and networks that enhance the capabilities of the Forensic Chemistry Division.
• Assist and contribute to the process of regulatory compliance for Forensic Chemistry scientific practices
• Complete and maintain mandatory training competencies for the direct business area, to ensure compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements.
• Act as a point of guidance, intervention or escalation for less experienced staff by being responsive to staff needs during periods of high volume and/or unusual or challenging situations.
• Commit to safety and quality in the delivery of forensic chemistry services by actively participating in safety and quality practices.
• Promote a positive work environment by modelling professional behaviour, promoting teamwork and collaboration with other staff and stakeholders
• Participate in the review and development of policies, procedures and clinical and technical education and training activities for use by FSQ staff.
• Proactively engage and contribute to a continuing education program for all staff members on quality and quality processes and enhance professional knowledge and skills by disseminating professional development information to staff.
• Build and manage working relationships with staff across Forensic Science Queensland, Queensland Health and the Department of Justice.
• Promote open and respectful communication between all staff, stakeholders and clients.
• Maintain integrity and confidentiality and customers, stakeholders and other staff are treated fairly and with mutual respect and understanding, regardless of cultural, religious, ethnic and linguistic backgrounds.
• Work collaboratively in a team environment and within structured timeframes that meet operational demands and accept responsibility for work performed.
• Collect and validate data related to forensic chemistry processes and identify factors that limit timeliness or quality, as required.
• Prepare documentation and statistical data, as well as maintain computer database records as required.
