About the role
The Director of Clinical Training provides clinical and professional leadership for the education, training and development of junior medical officers in their first three postgraduate years (PGY1-PGY3) at Redcliffe Hospital. The role is responsible for ensuring medical education programs meet the highest professional, ethical and educational standards while supporting the ongoing development of a safe, skilled and capable medical workforce.
Working collaboratively with the Director Medical Workforce and Education Unit, Clinical Supervisors and Medical Education Officers, the successful candidate will oversee orientation, supervision, teaching, assessment, mentoring and accreditation activities for prevocational doctors. The role also acts as an advocate for junior doctors, provides clinical supervision, supports performance management and contributes to strategic education initiatives with hospitals, universities, colleges and professional bodies.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Provide leadership and oversight of medical education and training programs for prevocational doctors across Redcliffe Hospital and associated training sites.
- Ensure junior medical officers receive high-quality orientation, supervision, teaching, assessment, feedback and mentoring throughout their training.
- Advocate for junior doctors and manage matters relating to performance, wellbeing and clinical competence, including the development of support plans.
- Lead and support accreditation activities to maintain and enhance accredited prevocational training positions and educational standards.
- Collaborate with medical schools, universities, specialty colleges and healthcare stakeholders to strengthen medical education and workforce development opportunities.
