As a Mental Health Team Leader, you will provide clinical leadership, supervision and operational management within a multidisciplinary team delivering mental health services in a correctional environment.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Provide high‑level clinical leadership and consultation across the multidisciplinary mental health team.
  • Deliver complex assessment, intervention and person‑centred care, maintaining a senior‑level caseload.
  • Coordinate referral pathways, crisis management, clinical reviews and transition planning.
  • Chair multidisciplinary meetings, including those overseeing suicide risk assessment and complex case management.
  • Collaborate with external organisations, Centre operational teams and specialist units to support integrated service delivery.
  • Identify and lead opportunities for service improvement and quality enhancement. Leadership Responsibilities:
  • Lead recruitment activities, onboarding, coaching, addressing performance issues, monitoring fatigue and workload balance, and developing succession plans.
  • Enhance team capability through training, education, policy and guideline development.
  • Observe and provide feedback on clinical practice to support service integrity.
  • Participate in stakeholder engagement and operational discussions relevant to mental health service delivery.

These positions are based at Lockyer Valley Correctional Centre (LVCC) and Southern Queensland Correctional Centre (SQCC), both located at Spring Creek in the Lockyer Valley region.

LVCC is Queensland's newest and largest correctional facility, opened in September 2025. LVCC is a modern, fit-for-purpose facility and has a strong focus on rehabilitation, emphasising mental health services, substance abuse treatment, education and vocational training.

SQCC is a high security women's facility and Clinicians work within a multidisciplinary therapeutic team conducting assessments and providing intervention to support positive rehabilitation outcomes. Women who enter the criminal justice system often come from lives characterised by sexual, emotional and physical abuse, domestic and family violence, substance addiction and mental health problems.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology or Behavioural Science and full general registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA OR;
  • Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Therapy with registration with AHPRA, OR;
  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work and eligibility for membership with AASW
  • C Class Driver's Licence.
