About the role

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced manager to take a leading role in the development and implementation of the organisation's First Nations strategic agenda. The role provides advice to senior executives, drives meaningful engagement and partnerships with First Nations stakeholders, and ensures organisational plans and policies contribute to improved outcomes for First Nations peoples and communities.

It is a genuine occupational requirement that an Identified position be filled by an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander person as permitted by and arguable under Section 25, 104 and 105 of the Anti-Discrimination Act (1991).

In this role you will:

  • Lead the development and delivery of the organisation's First Nations strategic and action plan.
  • Ensure First Nations strategies align with relevant government priorities, legislation and whole-of-government frameworks.
  • Provide strategic advice to executive leadership on First Nations opportunities and emerging issues.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on progress against First Nations strategic objectives and plans.
  • Oversee the coordination of the First Nations Advisory Committee meetings.
  • Consider First Nations client survey results and identify initiatives to enhance service delivery to clients.
  • Lead the development of initiatives that advance reconciliation, Closing the Gap commitments and First Nations outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with First Nations communities, Traditional Owners, government agencies and other key stakeholders.
