The Manager, Resource Readiness leads and manages the delivery of resource readiness services to the region. The role is responsible for the provision of fleet and equipment planning and management services, programs and processes to enable the effective and efficient delivery of operational services. The role provides a high level of support to regional management in delivering organisational reform outcomes; contributing to the future direction of the QAS and ensuring that quality, timely and appropriate pre-hospital care and transport services are provided to the Queensland community within the region.

In this role you will:

  • Lead the strategic planning and management of fleet and equipment services to support regional management and staff.
  • Develop and manage strategic planning submissions for assets (including fleet), and coordinate programs that complement the QAS facilities management planning strategy.
  • Liaise, consult and negotiate with key stakeholders, including QAS managers and supervisors, and other public and private sector organisations, in the delivery of assets through effective and efficient strategic forward planning and management.
  • Plan and execute and implement an ongoing program of condition audits and statutory, conditional and reactive maintenance, to ensure compliance and meet changing operational demands.
  • Plan and undertake fleet vehicle procurement and the allocation and disposal of fleet related assets in an efficient and cost-effective manner, to meet operational requirements.
  • Manage the vehicle fleet through operationally and cost-effective maintenance contracts, including monitoring all contracts with external service providers to ensure compliance and continuing effectiveness and value for money.
  • Ensure that adequate reporting is undertaken and provide analysis of fleet data and expenditure.
  • Prepare, specify and monitor regional Standing Offer Arrangements (SOAs) for the provision of external maintenance services and contracts for vehicles and equipment.
  • Plan and implement operational equipment requirements and develop processes and reporting mechanisms to ensure the ongoing relevance and functionality of operational equipment.
  • Provide specialist advice to minimise any adverse impact on the operational effectiveness of regional fleet and equipment.
  • Oversee the management of systems for facility security including ID cards, electronic access hierarchy, key access etc., and review and implement improvements to increase the effectiveness of facility systems.
  • Liaise with stakeholders including Local Ambulance Committees (LACs) and operational managers regarding equipment purchase proposals.
  • Manage compliance with legislation, regulations and policy relating to QAS assets and equipment.
  • As a leader, actively demonstrate and promote the QAS's approach of zero tolerance towards violence and commit to supporting those affected by domestic and family violence in accordance with QAS policies and mechanisms. Model and influence a workplace culture of gender equality, respectful relationships, diversity, inclusion, employee safety and support.
  • Uphold the QAS's Cultural Safety Policy Statement and commitment to health equity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, including prioritising safe, effective and quality healthcare that is free from racism and discrimination.
  • Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Queensland Public Sector and QAS values.
