About us:

Rockhampton Hospital is a 305-bed major referral hospital and specialist hub for Central Queensland, providing care for patients from Rockhampton, surrounding regional communities and smaller rural hospitals. With a new state-of-the-art cancer care facility and a wide range of specialist services, it delivers complex care across medical, surgical, emergency, maternity, paediatric, mental health and critical care areas.

About the role:

  • Assist patients, visitors and staff, answer enquiries and manage ward reception and phone calls.
  • Coordinate appointments, transfers, discharges, transport and resources to support smooth patient flow across the hospital.
  • Assist medical and nursing staff with documentation, patient charts, audits, reporting and other essential administrative tasks.
  • Accurately update patient information and hospital systems, complete Patient Election Forms and manage data, records and appointments.
  • Prioritise competing tasks, use initiative and stay organised while providing reliable support in a busy hospital environment.

About you:

  • Be highly organised and self-directed, able to juggle priorities, work independently and keep patient flow moving in a busy hospital environment.
  • Be confident with technology, using systems such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and hospital information systems accurately and efficiently.
  • Have strong administrative skills, with the ability to understand medical terminology and confidently navigate patient records and hospital systems.
  • Use initiative and sound judgement, responding appropriately to emergencies, handling sensitive information discreetly and solving problems when situations don't always follow a set script.

What we offer:

  • An hourly rate between $50.21 - $55.84 p.h. (includes 25% casual loading)
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
