As Director, Emergency Medicine, you will have the opportunity to lead one of Australia's premier paediatric emergency departments at Queensland Children's Hospital. You will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional care to children and young people, ensuring they receive safe, high-quality and compassionate emergency care when they need it most. Leading a highly skilled and dedicated multidisciplinary team, you will shape the future of paediatric emergency medicine through clinical excellence, innovation, education and research. Working closely with divisional and executive leaders, you will drive service improvement, strengthen partnerships and support the development of the next generation of healthcare professionals.

About the Team

The Emergency Department is the 'front door' to Queensland Children's Hospital and is often the first point of contact for children, young people and families accessing our services.

Our primary aim is the provision of high-quality emergency care for children 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We deliver primary, secondary and tertiary paediatric service for children from Brisbane, Southeast Queensland and northern New South Wales.

About the Role

In this role you will create systems to sustain high quality delivery for children, young people and families (Leader of Leaders) in accordance with the Children's Health Queensland Leadership Excellence Framework and the Queensland Public Service and the CHQ values. Your contribution will include:

  • Actively champion and drive a holistic positive culture of learning, safety and inclusion which is based on CHQ values and seeks to meet the organisational objectives.
  • Encourage and recognise high performance and support staff to prioritise their health and wellbeing.
  • Provide senior leadership in the development of and strategically plan for excellence in care for Paediatric Emergency patients, in line with Children's Health Queensland Hospital and Health service vision of clinical and operational excellence.
  • Develop an annual operational plan for the service in line with CHQ planning, and addressing budget, activity and quality.
  • Showcase performance by monthly operational performance reporting to divisional leadership which includes achievements, risks and issues, activity, clinical governance, compliance measures and financial position.
