The Head, Exhibition Management is responsible for the management of a program of temporary, touring and permanent exhibitions and experiences across Queensland Museum (QM).
Reporting to the Director, Exhibitions, the Head, Exhibition Management will plan and manage an exhibition program across multiple sites.
The successful applicant will be a pragmatic, solutions-based individual with extensive experience in exhibition planning and development.
Exceptional project management, relationship building and influencing skills, will ensure the delivery of an impactful exhibition program aligned with strategic and audience objectives.

The Head, Exhibition Management will:
- Collaborate across QM to develop and manage temporary, touring and gallery renewal programs aligned with strategic objectives and audience engagement goals.
- Oversee the planning, development, and delivery of new exhibitions and experiences across QM, supporting the Director, Exhibitions in communicating, driving and delivering exhibition and experience outcomes.
- Lead and manage Project Managers and multidisciplinary project teams, fostering a collaborative and inclusive approach to exhibition acquisition, development and delivery.
- Apply advanced project management skills to lead exhibition projects of varying scales, including preparing briefs, plans, business cases, project documentation, schedules, and implementation plans in accordance with approved frameworks.
- Manage exhibition project procurement, contracts, budgets, resources, timelines and risks, ensuring financial accountability, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with organisational policies and legislative requirements.
- Analyse and report on exhibition data as well as key performance indicators, to support the successful delivery of the QM exhibition schedule.
- Contribute to the operational management of QM through active participation in working groups, project teams and planning processes.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Mentor and support the development of team members, promoting a culture of accountability, innovation and continuous improvement.
- Promote a positive and accountable work environment by ensuring compliance with QM values, policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
- Contribute to the safety culture of QM by reporting all incidents and hazards and ensuring work is undertaken in the safest way possible, following all QM WHS policies and/or procedures and guidelines relevant to the job.
Required skills and experience
While there are no mandatory qualifications, a degree in a relevant field such as museum studies, arts, design, or project management, and experience delivering complex, multidisciplinary projects in a cultural or exhibition context will be highly regarded.
