About the role
As the Advanced Allied Health Assistant - Occupational Therapy, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality Occupational Therapy services across inpatient, outpatient, acute and sub-acute settings. Working within a delegated practice framework, you will provide advanced clinical support to Occupational Therapists, assisting patients to achieve their rehabilitation, recovery and discharge goals. You will also take a lead role in coordinating and supervising Allied Health Assistants within the Occupational Therapy service, ensuring workloads are effectively managed and services are delivered to a high standard.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Provide therapy programmes and interventions performed with direct or indirect supervision
- Obtain relevant patient information, including where appropriate, the administering a defined range of clinical screening assessments, as delegated and allowed by testing guidelines and legislation.
- Communicate effectively with the treating Allied Health Professionals regarding patient status and outcomes of interventions provided, and any other information relevant for patient care.
- Actively contribute to the multidisciplinary team through attendance at department meetings, projects and activities, and undertaking administrative duties.
- Provide orientation, supervision and support for new and existing Allied Health Assistants, Allied Health Assistant Relievers, and Allied Health Assistant trainees.
