The Tablelands, Palm Cove, Port Douglas and the Daintree Rainforest are a short drive from Cairns.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Cairns and Hinterland Evolve Theraputic Services. The Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs Service covers a large geographical area that extends from Tully in the South, to Mossman in the North and westwards to Croydon. The majority of services are predominantly Cairns based however the expansive geography of the region allows for travel to areas which most people only dream of.

About the role:

  • Work collaboratively with the Child & Youth Services Operations Manager in the development, implementation and monitoring of programs, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with evidence-based best practice recovery oriented models of care, enhancing service delivery and coordination across the continuum of care.
  • Provide and apply an advanced level of clinical knowledge skills and expertise to the management of multidisciplinary systemic focussed clinical services to children and young people at risk of or currently in the care of the Department of Child Safety, Youth & Women, ensuring alignment with National, State and Hospital & Health Service policies and standards, including those specifically relating to the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, requiring advanced problem solving skills and application of complex contemporary clinical practice standards.
  • Provide advanced level clinical advice and reports to professional and operational supervisors, senior management, relevant service managers and key partners regarding service needs and initiatives to improve mental health service for children and young people who access the service.
  • Demonstrated advanced level experience in leading and facilitating the provision of clinical education and professional development for mental health professionals and support staff.
  • Demonstrated advanced level skills in the operational and clinical leadership of a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals, and management of associated service resources
