What you'll do
As the Microbiology Scientist, you will apply independent scientific judgement in the analysis of patient specimens, ensuring accurate verification and validation of test results while providing specialist advice to clinical teams where required. You will perform diagnostic testing and related laboratory duties in accordance with Pathology Queensland's accredited protocols, professional standards, and ethical requirements, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment. You will contribute to quality and service improvement initiatives that enhance patient care, actively participate in a 7-day roster including weekends and public holidays, and continuously develop your scientific expertise through ongoing learning and professional development. Working closely with colleagues and stakeholders, you will communicate effectively with internal and external clients and, where appropriate, provide training, guidance, and supervision to less experienced scientific and operational staff.
About you
We are searching for someone who has:
- Demonstrated knowledge, expertise and skill in the provision of diagnostic testing and clinical interpretation of results within a multidisciplinary Microbiology department.
- Demonstrated ability to participate in a multidisciplinary team and contribute a range of diagnostic skills relevant to the discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to apply established principles to a multidiscipline Microbiology service with provision of results and clinical advice in a client focused manner.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation / certification
