About the role
The Trainee Pharmacy Assistant provides essential support to the Pharmacy Department at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital while undertaking structured workplace learning and formal training in hospital pharmacy services. Working under the supervision of Senior Pharmacy Assistants and Pharmacists, the role contributes to the delivery of safe, efficient and high-quality pharmacy services that support patient care and organisational objectives.
The successful candidate will gain practical experience across a broad range of pharmacy support functions, including medicines distribution, stock management, prescription processing, product preparation and customer service activities. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop valuable skills and knowledge within a large tertiary hospital pharmacy environment while completing relevant pharmacy support qualifications.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Provide professional, courteous and efficient customer service to patients, staff and stakeholders within the Pharmacy Department.
- Assist with medicines distribution, stock management, prescription processing and pharmaceutical preparation activities under appropriate supervision.
- Support the maintenance of pharmaceutical stock levels, inventory control, expiry date management and medicine storage processes.
- Work effectively as part of a pharmacy team while demonstrating a willingness to learn, develop new skills and undertake formal training requirements.
- Comply with legislative, professional and organisational policies, procedures and standards to support safe and effective pharmacy service delivery.
