Competitive salary and benefits:

We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements.

  • Salary range: $80,016 to $116,189 p.a. (HP3)
  • Salary range: $114,532 to $122,643 p.a. (NG6-1)
  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
  • Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available

About your opportunity:

  • Provide comprehensive specialized Psychogeriatric mental health assessments, short term coordinated engagement with older persons who meet the established criteria for Older Persons Mental Health Services (OPMHS).
  • Provide psycho-geriatric consultancy, education and community outreach services to Queensland Health and other relevant aged care or mental health care providers within Townsville Hospital and Health Service (HHS) and maintain consultation and liaison services within the northern area as negotiated.
  • Work collaboratively with consumers and multidisciplinary professionals to provide clinical care and a therapeutic environment conducive to the dignity and wellbeing of consumers and carers.

Townsville Older Persons Mental Health Service (OPMHS) is an integrated consultation and liaison community-based service providing assessment and treatment for older adults in the community. 

The service aims to support GPs and other health and aged care providers by assessing and recommending treatment for people with mental health problems.  OPMHS sees patients with a first presentation of a mental illness generally over 65 years of age and over 55 for indigenous people however younger people who are affected by age-related neurodegenerative problems such as Alzheimer's disease may be included. OPMHS also specialises in diagnosis, treatment and supports the care of people with dementia.

Requirements:

  • Mandatory qualifications (Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Psychology or Social Work) and proof of registration (if applicable).
  • Possession of class C drivers' licence. 
  • Travel is a requirement of this position.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
  • Probation period may apply.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
