Proserpine State High School is seeking a Head of Department - Middle Schooling, located in the heart of the Whitsundays, strategic leadership ensures students are connected, supported, and future-focused throughout their secondary schooling journey. As Head of Department - Middle Schooling will provide leadership and oversight of student wellbeing, engagement and success for students in Years 9 and 10. Key responsibilities include student monitoring and case management, leadership of engagement programs and alternative pathway initiatives, coordination of careers education, and supporting students through the critical transition from junior to senior schooling.

About the Role:
The successful applicant will work collaboratively with staff, students, families and external agencies to promote positive engagement, improve outcomes and ensure all students are supported to achieve their educational and post-school goals.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Educational Leadership: Lead the department in developing and delivering a shared educational vision that prioritises high-quality teaching, learning and outcomes for all students.
- Inclusive Culture and High Expectations: Embed socially just, inclusive and equitable practices while establishing high standards for student achievement, staff performance and professional practice.
- Strategic Partnerships: Build strong, collaborative relationships with students, parents, government agencies and community organisations to support student success and strengthen the department's impact.
- Future-Focused Professional Leadership: Drive strategic and innovative improvement, encourage evidence-informed practice, and actively promote lifelong learning and ongoing professional development for yourself and staff.
- Governance and Resource Management: Apply relevant legislation, policies and procedures and effectively manage human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources to achieve departmental priorities and goals.
