About the role

As a Safety Advisor with Metro North Health, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a safe, healthy and supportive workplace across one of Australia's largest healthcare organisations. Working in partnership with leaders, clinicians and employees, you will provide expert workplace health and safety, rehabilitation and return to work advice that supports both employee wellbeing and patient safety outcomes. This role offers the opportunity to influence safety culture at all levels of the organisation by identifying risks, driving practical safety initiatives, and supporting continuous improvement across a diverse and complex healthcare environment.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Function as an effective Safety Advisor allocated to supporting seamless strategic, tactical and operational Health and Safety advice within a large healthcare environment.
  • Contribute to the development and support the drive of an effective, durable and contemporary health and safety governance framework, strategy and culture to meet Hospital and Health Service needs, ensuring compliance measures are addressed (e.g. Work Health and Safety and Workers Compensation legislation, Australian Council on Healthcare Standards).
  • Strong communication skills that maintain effective professional and consultative relationships, that builds knowledge, develops skills, values differences with stakeholders and local team members with an ability to manage challenges with integrity, tact and diplomacy.
  • Coordinate, manage and provide support and advice to all stakeholders through the investigation of serious accidents and incidents.
  • Analyse and report on data relating to incidents and injuries, audit and inspection processes. Identify and implement strategies that will manage risk and reduce workplace injury/illness across MNH.
