About us: 

BreastScreen Queensland Cairns Service provides a free population-based mammography screening service to women over 40 years of age.  The catchment area includes Cairns, Innisfail, Tablelands, Cape York, Torres Strait and Northern Peninsula and part of the Townsville Hospital and Health Service covering an area of approximately 380000 sq kms.

BreastScreen Queensland Cairns is operationally managed as part of the Medical Imaging Service and operates from a static site located at Mcleod Street.  A Screening and Assessment unit is provided at the static site while two mobile units provides screening to women in rural and remote areas of Far North Queensland.  The mobile units travel to over 46 mobile sites.

About your opportunity:

In this position you will.....

  • Deliver a high-level breast imaging clinical service within a multidisciplinary team, in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards.
  • Apply independent professional judgement to a complex caseload, adapting routine clinical practice based on valid and reliable evidence, with infrequent need for direct clinical practice supervision.
  • Ensure patient care issues are managed, including liaison with other clinicians, clinical departments and external providers and patient related incidents are reported and documented according to hospital procedures.
  • Work cooperatively and effectively within a multidisciplinary team, with other members of the multidisciplinary team and with patients / clients.
  • Assist the Chief Radiographer and other Senior Radiographers with departmental non-clinical tasks as delegated.
  • Travel / work on the two mobile unit/s will be required.
