About the role

Make a meaningful difference to the daily lives of older people by helping create engaging, enjoyable and purposeful experiences within Interim Care at Brighton Health Campus. This role focuses on promoting psychosocial and physical wellbeing through recreational activities that encourage social connection, support motivation and enhance quality of life for patients, many of whom are living with dementia or other cognitive challenges.

Working alongside nursing, allied health staff, volunteers and families, you will help design and deliver individual and group recreation programs across two wards. The Recreation Program is an integral part of patient care and wellbeing, providing opportunities for meaningful engagement while supporting rehabilitation, recovery and person-centred care.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Plan, implement and evaluate recreational programs that support the individual needs, interests and wellbeing goals of patients within Interim Care.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, patients, families, carers and volunteers to deliver engaging and meaningful recreational activities.
  • Support the participation and development of volunteers through education, guidance and on-the-job training.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to person-centred care planning by capturing information that supports meaningful engagement and quality care.
  • Monitor and maintain recreational equipment and resources to ensure activities are delivered safely and in accordance with relevant infection control and workplace safety requirements.
