Head of Department - English - Craigslea State High School

Craigslea State High School is seeking an experienced or aspirant middle leader to lead the school's English Faculty. Craigslea offers English through to Year 12, as well as Literature, English as an Additional Language and Essential English in the senior phase of learning. The successful applicant will also play a pivotal role in the whole school approach to reading and will have input into the delivery of the literacy program.

Founded in 1975, Craigslea State High School is an independent public school located on approximately 10 hectares. Your opportunity:
As the Head of Department, you will:
- Lead curriculum focus in line with school and departmental initiatives
- Participate in delivering the vision of Early Childhood and State Schools Division
- Develop the quality of teaching and learning
- Nurture positive relationships between students, teachers and stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Lead curriculum priorities and initiatives aligned with school and departmental direction.
- Develop and strengthen the quality of teaching and learning.
- Lead the department in developing a shared educational vision focused on student outcomes.
- Set and promote high standards for student and staff performance.
- Build positive and productive relationships with students, staff, families and stakeholders.
- Promote inclusive and socially just practices across the school.
- Foster partnerships with government agencies, community groups and families.
- Provide strategic, future-focused leadership and support continuous improvement.
- Promote professional learning and development for staff.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
- Effectively manage human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources to achieve departmental goals.
