The position of MDT Coordinator – Oncology Service Group will: • Provide consistent, high-quality, evidence-based coordination and data management support of all cancer-related MDT meetings conducted at Queensland Children’s Hospital. • Ensure CHQ Oncology Services Group MDT governance processes remain compliant with Queensland Health Cancer MDT Framework. This Framework outlines requirements for cancer-related MDTs to deliver high-quality, timely and efficient multidisciplinary discussion and planning to support the diagnosis and treatment of people living with cancer.

About the Team
The Oncology Services Group includes the Oncology Service, Blood and Marrow Transplant Service, Haematology Service and the Paediatric Palliative Care Service. The Oncology Service has dedicated consultant teams focusing on Leukaemia, Lymphoma and Bone Marrow Transplant; Solid Tumours and Neuro-oncology; Radiation Oncology, Palliative Care and non-malignant Haematology. Consultant medical staff are supported by junior and middle-grade medical staff, including specialist training fellows in paediatric oncology.
We provide a centralised, state-wide service for Queensland and Northern New South Wales, with an overall population of more than 5 million people. The Oncology Service has one of the most active clinical research centres in Australia, supported by a dedicated Clinical Research Office. We are active members of several national and international collaborative trial groups, including the Australian and New Zealand Children's Haematology Oncology Group (ANZCHOG), the Children's Oncology Group (COG), St Jude Children's Research Hospital trials, International Society of Paediatric Oncology (SIOP), iBFM and ITCC.
Our size and commitment to clinical trials is reflected by our status over several years as one of the top 10 enrolling centres for both COG, and St Jude medulloblastoma trials. In addition to clinical trials, the Oncology Service has strong academic links with The University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology and the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute. Specific areas of translational research activity include the Children's Brain Cancer Initiative and the Queensland Children's Tumour Bank.
About the Role
In this role you will deliver quality outcomes for children, young people and families (Leader of Self) in accordance with the Children's Health Queensland Leadership Excellence Framework and the Queensland Public Service and the CHQ values. Your contribution will include:
- Support the MDT Chair in creating and maintaining a Terms of Reference document that all members of the relevant MDT agree to. It outlines referral procedures to the MDT, minimum data capture, the expectations of adhering to a minimum dataset, the required attendance by specialty and quorum requirements. Terms of Reference are reviewed annually at the time of undertaking a quality assurance audit on the data collected by each MDT.
- Support the MDT Chair in timely MDT referral management to ensure efficient coordination of MDT lists prior to meetings to guide clinical preparation of cases. This includes the coordination of external imaging and external pathology slides in partnership with the relevant treating team.
- Ensure confirmation is received by referring clinicians that they will be attendance in the MDT meeting to present the case they have requested. Where this is not possible, ensure a proxy is nominated and prepared to present the case on the referring clinician's behalf.
