Emark on an exciting opportunity at Transport and Main Roads (TMR) in Cairns. We’re offering a permanent role for an enthusiastic Project Support Officer to join our Project Controls team in Far North District, based in Cairns.

You will provide high level administrative and project support to project managers and team members, helping ensure projects are delivered efficiently and in line with relevant legislation, policies and procedures. As a Project Support Officer, your role will be pivotal in providing advanced support functions, ensuring project managers and team members have the high-level assistance needed to execute project deliverables efficiently and in compliance with legislation and guidelines.

Some responsibilities include:

  • Administer, maintain, and coordinate the delivery of a range of support activities as required to ensure effective program and project outcomes.
  • Interpret and apply financial policies, procedures, and guidelines relating to the Queensland Transport Investment Program (QTRIP).
  • Prepare and undertake roads infrastructure program and project reporting to support accurate financial tracking, provide a clear overview of financial performance, and identify potential variances at an early stage.
  • Deliver high-level administrative support to QTRIP project managers and team members, including project scheduling, accounts payable and receivable functions, the development and maintenance of spreadsheets and registers, and the provision of timely information, updates, reports, and presentations.
  • Ensure operational practices, service standards, and performance outcomes comply with departmental and regional policies, legislative requirements (including Workplace Health and Safety), and governance obligations. Further information on the role can be found in the attached role description.

Mandatory qualifications and conditions

  • A current Class ‘C' Drivers Licence
  • Pre-employment checks, including a criminal history screening and declaration of serious discipline history will be required to be completed
  • Must be eligible to work in Australia

Desirable requirements

  • Formal qualifications are not essential; however, a strong understanding of financial acts and regulations would be advantageous.
  • Previous experience with financial systems such as SAP, or the ability to quickly acquire proficiency, is highly regarded.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
