The Strategic Wildlife Operations team is seeking a Senior Project Officer to contribute to projects and programs that balance the conservation of Queensland's unique wildlife with the management of human-wildlife interactions involving species such as crocodiles and flying-foxes.

In this role, you'll work with stakeholders to deliver innovative conservation initiatives and practical wildlife management solutions. You'll also contribute to policy development, grants administration and strategic projects that support conservation outcomes across Queensland.

The Strategic Wildlife Operations team, within Wildlife and Threatened Species Operations, delivers a diverse range of projects that support the conservation of Queensland's unique plants and animals while managing complex human-wildlife interactions.

As a Senior Project Officer, you will contribute to the interpretation and implementation of the Nature Conservation Act 1992 outside protected areas by developing and reviewing statutory instruments, policies, strategies, plans and operational guidelines.

You will be responsible for:
• Planning, delivering and reporting on projects, annual work schedules and budgets.
• Managing project finances, including procurement, purchasing, budget monitoring and reporting.
• Developing policy responses to emerging conservation issues.
• Leading the delivery of Flying-fox management grant programs for local councils.
• Preparing and coordinating briefing notes, project plans, reports, submissions and correspondence.
• Researching and analysing complex issues to provide policy, legislative and operational advice.
• Maintaining accurate reporting and project information systems.
• Building productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, First Nations peoples, regional staff, legal representatives and community interest groups.
• Supporting the development, implementation and evaluation of strategic wildlife and threatened species initiatives.
