The Strategic Wildlife Operations team is seeking a Senior Conservation Officer to contribute to projects and programs that support the conservation of Queensland's unique wildlife while managing complex human-wildlife interactions involving species such as crocodiles and flying-foxes.
In this role, you'll work with stakeholders across government, local councils, research organisations and the community to deliver conservation initiatives, operational policy, grants programs and strategic projects. You'll provide advice, coordinate project activities and contribute to practical solutions that support positive conservation outcomes across Queensland.

The Strategic Wildlife Operations team, within Wildlife and Threatened Species Operations, delivers a diverse range of projects and programs that support the conservation of Queensland's unique wildlife while helping manage complex human/wildlife interactions.

As a Senior Conservation Officer, you will work across a variety of strategic projects that support the implementation of the Nature Conservation Act 1992 outside protected areas. Your work will contribute to wildlife conservation policy, grants administration, stakeholder engagement, strategic planning and the development of practical management solutions for priority species and conservation issues.

Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will help coordinate projects, provide advice and contribute to policy and operational outcomes that support wildlife conservation across Queensland.

You will be responsible for:
• Support and guide research and monitoring programs for threatened species conservation and management and provide input to associated policies, guidelines and procedures.
• Undertake research and monitoring, including experimental design, data analysis, reporting and identify issues and develop possible solutions to support delivery of threatened species management activities. 
• Proactively build and sustain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders including QPWS Regions, research institutions, members of the community, Indigenous peoples and other government agencies (local, state and federal) to ensure effective management of threatened species. 
• Contribute to the preparation of strategic threatened species research and monitoring plans, correspondence, reports, submissions and briefing papers to accurately inform decision-making.
• Promote a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace that is free from bullying, discrimination and harassment.
