About the role

As the Clinical Nurse Consultant - Child Protection Liaison Officer, you'll provide specialist clinical leadership and expert advice across North West Hospital and Health Service, helping clinicians recognise, respond to and report child protection concerns. You'll lead the Family Advocacy Unit's liaison with government and non-government agencies, support legislative information-sharing requirements and play a key role in strengthening child protection capability across the service.

  • Lead and influence child protection practice across North West HHS through advanced clinical expertise, consultation and operational leadership.
  • Educate and empower staff through specialist training, mentoring and education on recognising, responding to and reporting suspected child abuse and neglect.
  • Build strong partnerships with Child Safety Services and other government and community agencies to support coordinated responses for vulnerable children and families.

Requirements

      • Mandatory requirements are a relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences.
      • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse and possession of a current annual licence certificate is mandatory.
      • A post graduate qualification or currently enrolled in a post graduate program in a relevant area of study is highly desirable.
      • Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster.
      • Appointees may also be required to participate in an on-call roster.
      • The position may involve travel to various facilities or units within the North West Hospital and Health Service.
      • C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
      • Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks.
      • This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
      • A period of probation may apply.
