An exciting permanent opportunity is available for a Project Officer (Controls) to join the North Queensland Region, based in either Cairns or Townsville. In this role, you will provide administrative and financial support to program and project managers to assist with the successful delivery of the Queensland Transport and Road Investment Program (QTRIP).

As Project Officer (Controls), you will provide administrative, financial, procurement and contract support to program and project managers delivering the Queensland Transport and Road Investment Program (QTRIP) across North Queensland Region.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Interpret and apply financial policies and procedures, providing advice and best practice solutions to support project delivery.
  • Prepare financial documents including journals, goods receipts, invoices, requisitions and purchase orders.
  • Apply contemporary procurement practices for the purchase of goods and services for road infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate and administer contract documentation relating to QTRIP and road infrastructure projects.
  • Maintain project, program and contract information in SAP, 3PCM, Primavera and Microsoft Excel, ensuring departmental records are managed in line with standards and guidelines.
  • Undertake reporting on programs, projects and contracts to support accurate tracking, financial oversight and early identification of deviations.

Mandatory qualifications and conditions

  • Current holder of a Class C driver licence.
  • Must be eligible to work in Australia.
  • Pre-employment check of serious discipline history for the recommended candidate(s) as a condition of employment.
  • Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
