Job details

Senior Practitioners lead Youth Justice practice improvement across the region, providing specialist advice, guidance and support to staff and leadership teams to enhance service delivery and reduce youth offending. They promote a culture of continuous improvement, learning and accountability, supporting the consistent application of operational policies, practice standards and performance frameworks. The role provides expert oversight across youth justice court work, case management, behaviour change programs, Restorative Justice Conferencing and complex casework, while fostering strong partnerships with government and non-government stakeholders. Senior Practitioners also support regional leadership to implement operational changes, government priorities and new initiatives, ensuring high-quality outcomes for young people, victims and communities.

This is a full-time position requiring a strong office presence. The successful applicant must be willing and able to travel between office locations across the Brisbane and Moreton Bay region, including Caboolture, Deception Bay, Bowen Hills and Buranda, as operational needs require. The position may also be required to work on Saturdays to support operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Practitioner, you will:

• Demonstrate cultural capability and a commitment to fostering an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019, while supporting departmental programs and community partnerships that preserve cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
• Provide expert guidance on accountable, collaborative and integrated Youth Justice services, ensuring practice is culturally responsive and delivered in accordance with legislation, policies, procedures and practice standards.
• Provide leadership, mentoring and coaching to staff to build capability and promote high-quality practice, including analysing operational performance data, identifying priorities, and implementing practice improvement strategies.
• Provide specialist advice on evidence-based Youth Justice service delivery, including court work, case management, behaviour change programs,
• Restorative Justice Conferencing and collaborative partnership approaches.
• Provide expert guidance on complex and high-risk matters, including serious offending, disability, domestic and family violence, mental health, and matters involving young people and victims of crime.
• Support continuous improvement through the analysis of operational data and the implementation of quality assurance and performance improvement processes.
• Work collaboratively with central office service delivery support teams to embed learning and development outcomes, support program integrity, and implement organisational change, new initiatives and Government priorities.
• Provide advice and support to regional leadership teams, frontline staff and partner agencies to strengthen capability, knowledge and service delivery outcomes.
• Actively participate in regional leadership meetings and planning activities and represent the region in negotiations and discussions regarding complex case matters.
• Promote excellence in service delivery and public administration, identifying opportunities to improve client outcomes and collaborative practice across the region.
• Possession of an undergraduate degree relevant to the role is a mandatory requirement of this role.
